Rare Opportunity to Buy Nativebred Lincoln Red Cattle

The Lincoln Red Cattle Society`s Spring Show and Sale at Newark Livestock Market on Saturday 21 March, 2009 provides breeders with a rare opportunity to purchase high quality 100% pure bred Lincoln Reds. There pedigrees will give committed breeders the chance to develop new blood lines from a breed of cattle that are in great demand but short in numbers for sale.

The Lincoln Red with its characteristic cherry red coat has made an immense contribution to the development of the Country’s cattle industry and has been responsible for much of the agricultural development and prosperity within the County itself.

Lincoln Red cows are renowned for their quiet nature, ease of calving and excellent mothering instinct. Unlike many of the continental breeds they are very hardy and can be reared naturally off grass. The fine marbling of fat in the meat, which is produced by good traditional feeding practices, makes it more tender and succulent and gives it a wonderful flavour.

This important breed which not only flourishes on marginal land but also finishes well with limited hard feeding has probably been one of Lincolnshire’s best kept secrets.

In an effort to encourage ‘buyer confidence’ we can confirm that all Cattle entered into our sale have been Bluetongue vaccinated (with the exception of calves under 90 days old).

Additionally please note that ALL BULLS forward for the sale are from 4 yearly interval TB testing parishes.
