British Wool Marketing Board Flock Exemptions for 2008

The following sheep breeds have been declared exempt from the British Wool Marketing Board (BWMB) central marketing scheme:- Balwen, Boreray, British Grown Merino, Castlemilk Moorit, Galway, Hebridean, Leicester Longwool, Lincoln Longwool, Llanwenog, Manx Loghtan, Norfolk Horn, North Ronaldsay, Portland, Soay, Teeswater.

The Wool Marketing Scheme requires those with more than four adult sheep to register their flock and market their wool with the BWMB. This exemption allows farmers of the above breeds to opt out of the duty to register, providing them with the opportunity to pursue other ways to market their fleece such as selling direct to spinners.
