Industry Leader Elected Chairman at Rare Breeds Survival Trust

RBST has appointed a well known industry leader as their new Executive Chairman. Newly elected Tim Brigstocke has long been recognised for his work in agriculture and was awarded an MBE for services to the dairy industry in January 2008.

His appointment has been widely welcomed as he brings a wealth of experience, and a broad range of connections, to the post.

Currently Policy Director of Royal Association of British Dairy Farmers (RABDF) Tim Brigstocke also works on a number of government bodies including the Houses of Parliament All Party Parliamentary Group on Dairy Farming and the Food Standards Agency Advisory Committee on Animal Feedstuffs (ACAF).

In addition, Mr Brigstocke will now be leading RBST, founded in 1973 to support Britain’s native livestock breeds. The organisation is leading the way on a number of conservation measures including work on genetics, the Grazing Advice Partnership and most recently taking on the management of the National Scrapie Plan (NSP) sheep semen archive alongside the National Sheep Association.

Speaking of his appointment, Tim Brigstocke said,

“I am looking forward to leading RBST as we work to secure the viability of the UK’s native livestock genetic resources and to promote the value of native breeds in today’s agriculture”

Said RBST Vice Chairman Peter Titley,

“RBST needed to strengthen its executive arm through the appointment of a suitably qualified and experienced Executive Chairman. Tim Brigstocke is just such a person with wide knowledge of the agricultural industry coupled with a strong commitment to RBST.”
