Promoting Rare & Native Breeds

Native breeds have an important role to play in the future of farming.

RBST attends nearly 100 shows and events around the country.

RBST is a partner in the Grazing Advice Partnership

Mointoring Breeds At Risk

Monitoring breed populations and their geographical concentration to identify breeds most at risk.

Each year RBST produces the guide to rare and native breeds.  The RBST Watchlist  monitors the female breeding populations of cattle, sheep, pigs, poultry, goats & horses & ponies and identifies those breeds most at risk.

RBST manages the Breeds at Risk register for government agencies. This is to ensure that Cattle, Sheep and Goat Breeds and British Lop Pigs can benefit from any special measures that may apply or come into force for the conservation of breeds at risk in the event of a future Foot and Mouth Disease outbreak.
